Finnish Construction Trade Union
Employees working in the building, construction product, asphalting, waterproofing, building technology and infrastructure sectors are organised in the Construction Trade Union.
Members
Members of the Construction Trade Union work on newbuild and renovation construction sites (building construction, painting and flooring occupations), in the construction product industry, and in building services, infrastructure, asphalting and waterproofing.
These union members work in the following sectors:
- asphalting
- building construction
- building services
- construction products
- floor covering
- infrastructure
- painting
- waterproofing.
Joining the union
You can join the Construction Trade Union by completing an online joining form. You may complete this form in Finnish, Swedish or English.
The membership subscription fee for the Construction Trade Union in 2025 is EUR 25 per month. This membership subscription fee includes membership of the unemployment fund. The membership fee is tax-deductible.
Student membership
Students in programmes leading to the following qualifications may join the Construction Trade Union as student members:
- vocational qualification in building construction
- vocational qualification in building services
- vocational qualification in infrastructure construction
- vocational qualification in surface treatment
Student membership is free of charge. Student members are eligible for assistance in various workplace problem situations, and for member benefits claimed with a Construction Trade Union membership card. They may take part in activities arranged by the union’s Raksanuoret youth division for members under 36 years of age, and in union training events.

Jose Piironen manages the flow of water in buildings. HVAC systems are an essential feature of modern life.
- Jose has served as a Plumber at Lämpökarelia Itä-Suomi Oy since 2017.
- He is a member of the Finnish Construction Trade Union.
