Industrial Union

The Industrial Union is Finland’s largest trade union for manufacturing, representing employees in 35 collective bargaining areas across three broad sectors: the chemical sector, the technology sector and the wood products sector.

Members

Industrial Union members work at a wide range of workplaces in various industrial sectors, including the technology industry, chemical industry, mechanical forest industry and woodworking industry. They are employed in various capacities by small and large businesses operating in manufacturing, servicing, logistics and other industrial fields. The union also organises employees working in such diverse operations as automotive dealerships, laundries, forestry businesses, gardening, and agriculture.

Joining the union

You can join the Industrial Union by completing an application for membership, either online or as a paper document provided at your workplace by a shop steward or other union contact person. You may also leave a callback request on the union website to complete the application form together by telephone.

The membership subscription fee for the Industrial Union in 2025 is 1.0 per cent of gross wages. Unemployment fund membership is free of charge for union members. The membership fee is tax-deductible.

Student membership

Students studying at an institute or course centre of vocational education in a sector organised by the Industrial Union are eligible to join the union as student members.

Student membership is free of charge. Student members enjoy the same membership benefits as other union members, including travel insurance and leisure time accident insurance.

  • Since 2020 Ella has served as a Process Worker at the silicon wafer manufacturer Okmetic Oy.
  • She is a member of the Industrial Union.

The Industrial Union negotiates 35 national collective agreements and several collective agreements at individual enterprises.
