Finnish Aviation Union IAU
The Finnish Aviation Union IAU is a trade union for professionals working in aviation technology and service functions.
Members
The largest employers of IAU members are airlines, companies that supply their technical and ground services, and Fintraffic Ltd, which is responsible for air traffic control. The duties of our members include:
- aircraft maintenance and repairs
- cargo customer service functions
- cargo handling
- catering functions
- de-icing
- passenger service functions
- ramp and lobby functions
- repair and maintenance of air traffic control equipment
- repair and maintenance of ground handling equipment
Joining the union
You may join IAU by completing the online membership application form.
The membership subscription fee for IAU in 2025 is 1.39 per cent of gross wages (not exceeding EUR 79 per month). This membership subscription fee includes membership of the unemployment fund. The membership fee is tax-deductible.
Student membership
Students enrolled in courses leading to qualifications in the aviation sector may join IAU as student members. Student membership is free of charge.
Rebecca Toivonen (30)
Arriving on time at the correct destination, and with the right documents, is essential both for airliners and their passengers. Rebecca Toivonen works in passenger services to ensure smooth logistics at Helsinki–Vantaa International Airport.
- Rebecca has served as a Passenger Service Supervisor and Gate Coordinator at Aviator Airport Services Finland Oy for 12 years.
- She is a member of the Finnish Aviation Union IAU.
“I have been departmental shop steward here for four years. Our organising rate is high, and we are a very active union with considerable influence despite our small size. We assist our members in issues of all kinds, such as verifying that their salaries are correctly calculated. My leisure time interests include scouting, and I have learned to take responsibility since I was 15 years old.”
