Family leaves

In Finland an employee is entitled to maternity, paternity, parental and child care leave.

An employee may also take time off work in order to care for a family member or close relative, and on pressing family-related grounds.

Regular working hours may also be reduced until the end of a child’s second year of comprehensive schooling.

An employee may take temporary care leave in the event of illness of a child under 10 years of age.

Employees are entitled to resume their former duties on returning from family leave.
